About Ally Free

Ally Free’s musical journey began at 15 when they picked up a guitar, learning initially through lessons and later by ear to complement their singing.  Originally from from Huntsville, AL, they started performing at local coffee shops and outdoor venues, eventually expanding to bars, restaurants, and regional music festivals.  In 2019, Ally launched their debut album “Rise” featuring original Americana tracks that fuse rock, country, and folk influences.  Inspired by and now as a member of a Nashville based organization The Black Opry in early 2023, they transitioned to larger venues, leaving their career as a Correctional Officer to pursue music full-time.  Ally's music, a personal sanctuary, shares their journey and connects deeply with listeners who resonate with storytelling through song.  Some venues Ally has performed at include The Orion Amphitheatre and Mars Music Hall in Huntsville, The Princess Theatre in Decatur as an opener for Robert Cray, Ruthie Foster, and Cedric Burnside; to name a few.  They've also played Panoply Arts Festival and Microwave Dave Day in Huntsville, as well as The Bigfoot Blues Festival in Tennessee, which was headlined by The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, AmericanaFest in Nashville, and the prestigious Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island with The Black Opry Revue.  Some other shows in Tennessee  include City Winery, The Analog at Hutton Hotel, Franklin Theatre with The Black Opry Revue, and The Bluebird Cafe with Julie Williams, Kaitlin Butts, and Angie K.  They have also participated and performed in a Songwriter's Showcase at the Johnny Cash farm, which featured opening performances for Mark Alan Cash.  Ally was also a guest at The Wildhorse Saloon with Autumn Nicholas and Julie Williams, also of The Black Opry, for Ty Herndon's Love and Acceptance Concert which was a red carpet event.

Ally's aspiration is that their music and lyrics will resonate with others as it has within their life.  With music being the universal language, they hope their language of music will speak to all of the future #AllyCats out there.  So "don't be shy, come on in, the water's fine.” #BeFreeMusic
