Ally Free is an Americana, folk, and soulful rock artist whose music is rooted in honest storytelling and lived experience. Originally from Huntsville, Alabama and now based in the Nashville, TN area, Ally blends powerful vocals with heartfelt songwriting, creating songs that explore resilience, love, loss, and the moments that shape who we become.

After picking up a guitar at 15 years old, Ally began performing at local coffee shops before expanding to venues, festivals, and theaters throughout the Southeast. In 2019, they independently released their debut album, Rise, introducing audiences to a sound that naturally weaves together Americana, rock, country, and folk influences.

In 2023, Ally became a member of The Black Opry, joining a collective dedicated to amplifying Black artists within country, folk, Americana, and roots music. That same year, they made the decision to leave a career in corrections and pursue music full-time—a leap that has led to performances on some of the country’s most respected stages.

Throughout their career, Ally has shared bills with acclaimed artists including Robert Cray, Ruthie Foster, Cedric Burnside, SistaStrings, Julie Williams, Kaitlin Butts, Angie K, Autumn Nicholas, and Mark Alan Cash. They have appeared at renowned events and venues including the Newport Folk Festival with The Black Opry Revue, Word of South Festival, AmericanaFest, The Bluebird Cafe, City Winery Nashville, The Analog at Hutton Hotel, The Franklin Theatre, The Orion Amphitheater, Mars Music Hall, Panoply Arts Festival, Microwave Dave Day, The Bigfoot Blues Festival, and Ty Herndon’s Love & Acceptance concert at the Wildhorse Saloon.

Whether performing solo or as one half of the Americana duo The Allies, Ally’s goal remains the same: to create music that feels deeply personal while reminding listeners they are never alone in their own stories. Every song is an invitation to slow down, feel something real, and find a piece of yourself within the lyrics.

As they continue touring throughout the Southeast and beyond, Ally remains committed to building genuine connections through music—one song, one stage, and one listener at a time.
